Farmhouse at Bidadi

The farmhouse was proposed for an IT professional who wished to live a quiet life after his retirement on the outskirts of the town in this town called Bidadi. The small house was located on relatively flat land with level drops of 7’ at every 100’. The vegetation on the site includes large clusters of mango plantation and banyan trees. The layout of the house was derived from the profile of the site, which created a multitude of spatial experiences. Owing to the constraints of a meager budget, difficult site access, and the proximity to brick factories, the construction system was conceived as a synergy between broken brick masonry and a prefabricated structural system.

Project Scope: Architecture

Area: 1500 sq. ft.

Team: Karun Kumbera, Abhishek Holla

The layout consists of two cuboids juxtaposed to form an asymmetrical plus shaped plan. The spaces are designed to be more or less open, with deep balconies where the users could throw mats to rest in the breeze.
